Experts from across the region believe that Howard County’s long-term fortunes will rise and fall with the viability of Downtown Columbia. So, after one of the most expansive and inclusive community planning processes in State history, the Planning Board has finally issued its recommendation of the community’s plan to redevelop Downtown Columbia into the economic, social and cultural core of Howard County.
But, we need to make sure that our plan isn’t compromised by political half-measures that serve narrow special interests. That’s why we’ve created the NEW CITY ALLIANCE.
While the County Council works through the final steps in the approval process, we’ll be talking directly to voters while holding our public officials accountable to approve what the County has spent five years creating.
The New City Alliance is comprised of Democrats, Republicans, and Independents. We are community leaders. We are longtime Columbians. We are new residents to Howard County. We are parents of children in Howard County Public Schools. We are business owners. We are tax-payers. We are like you – and we need your help. Join us in our effort to make Columbia the New City Jim Rouse wanted!
